About the Founder

Brother Charlie's Rescue Center, Inc. was established in 1979 and named after the late Charles "Charlie" Sheehan. Charlie was a decorated Purple Heart WWII Veteran who following the war, became known as the "town drunk". Later, God saved Charlie and he began to reach out in God's love to the poor and homeless in the area. Upon his death, he left a $10,000 insurance policy to fund Brother Charlie's Rescue Center, Inc. (BRBC).

BRBC is a Christian non-profit 501(c)(3) ministry and has worked for over forty years to prevent and end homelessness by providing help to those who are homeless or at imminent risk of becoming homeless.

BRBC provides five programs designed to prevent or end homelessness in South Georgia: (1) homeless shelter, (2) transitional housing, (3) supportive services, (4) day center, and (5) thrift stores. Our program are carefully designed through tried and tested experience to bring positive change and results.
